The Graduate Assistantships are now available for International Students in all fields to have the opportunity to continue their Graduate studies at the University of Southern Maine. 

Scholarship Benefits:  

The successful candidates will be awarded a graduate assistantship in the University of Southern Maine’s Applied Graduate Program. 

Eligibility requirements: 

In order to be selected, candidates must have enrolled in at least 6 course credits during the semester(s) in which they will be working as MSc and CAS students, or be enrolled in the MSc GRS 602 or PhD GRS 701 course and have a certificate of satisfactory progress from their degree courses. 

Application process: 

The successful candidate must initially complete an application for the specific graduate degree course they are interested in pursuing through the university’s application portal or on the Common Application portal. When registering for the assistantship, the applicant should identify their preference in question 16 of the graduate application. 

Supporting Documents: 

The following documents are necessary for each applicant to submit to the university:

International College Transcript Evaluation, Statement of Finances, Letters of Recommendation, Current Resume, Official Transcripts, and an Essay or Statement of Purpose. 

Admission Requirements: 

Researchers are enrolled in an advanced degree course and the students are fully committed to a graduate degree program. 

Language Conditions: 

IELTS and TOEFL scores are required for international students and those who do not speak English as a first language. TOEFL IBT – 79, TOEFL PBT – 550, IELTS – 6.5, TOEFL CBT – 213
