Due to the highly competitive nature of Public Universities in Nigeria, Many students now prefer to enroll in private universities where enrollment is not so difficult and the academic calendar is fast because of the absence of strike. Also, Government-owned universities in Nigeria are not enough to admit the huge number of secondary school livers that aspire to further their education at reputable tertiary schools. This brings more importance to private universities in Nigeria, but it could cost quite a fortune to get a degree from a private university in Nigeria. Education at the Tertiary level especially Private Universities in Nigeria is highly expensive, unlike their federal government university counterpart that is much more affordable.
Interestingly we still have some private tertiary institutions in Nigeria that are affordable for those of us who can’t afford the exorbitant fees charged by some private universities, here’s a list of the top ten cheapest private universities in Nigeria 2018; we listed a top 10 ranking of Nigeria University Commission {NUC} approved Private universities that are cheap and affordable in Nigeria 2018.

1. Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin
Founded in 2005, currently headed by a Nigerian professor of community medicine, professor Ibrahim. its located in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.

2. Oduduwa University, Ile-Ife
OUI was founded in 2009 and located in Ipetumodu, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
Oduduwa University named after the forefather of the Yoruba race, Oduduwa University was established in 2009 in the town of Ipetumodu, Ile-Ife in Osun State. The private tertiary education institution has four colleges which include College of Management and Social Sciences, College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Environmental Design and Management and College of Engineering and Technology. Each college offers various accredited undergraduate courses. The Vice-Chancellor is Prof (Mrs.) Olajumoke A. Olayiwola.

3. Ajayi Crowther University
Located in old Oyo town, Ajayi Crowther University is a private Christian University that was established in 2005. The tertiary institution has different faculties some of which includes the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Natural Science and Faculty of social sciences. Ajayi Crowther University’s tuition fee range around about Five hundred thousand Naira 162,000 – 782,000. Professor K.T. Jaiyeoba is the university’s current Vice- Chancellor.
4. Obong University, Obong Ntak
Formerly referred to as the University of Africa, Obong University was established in 1997, Located in Obong Ntak, Etim Ekpo LGA, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The private higher institution of learning which is formally affiliated with the Churches of Christ is located in the town of Obong Ntak, Akwa- Ibom. The Vice-Chancellor is Enefiok S. Udo. Obong University awards degrees in various accredited courses such as Microbiology, Computer Science, Sociology, Political Science, Biochemistry, Economics, Accounting, and others. 5. Lead City University
Founded in 2005, Lead City University is owned and funded by the Eduserve Consult. The university is located in the ancient city of Ibadan in Oyo State. Their tuition is about 200,500 – 550,000 making Lead City University quite affordable when compared to other private universities. The University’s Vice-Chancellor is Professor Olufemi Onabanjo.
6. Crescent University, Abeokuta
Founded in 2005, its located at KM. 5, Ayetoro Road, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Vice Chancellor is Professor I. Gbajabiamila.

7. Rhema University, Aba

With about 10 accredited undergraduate programmes available, Rhema University charges school fees { tuition fees } of around 452,000 – 464,000 which makes it one of the most affordable private universities in Nigeria. 8. Adeleke University
Established in 2007 by Chief Deji Adeleke, Adeleke University is located in the town of Ede in Osun State. 9. Babcock University, Ilishan Remo
Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Babcock University was established in 1999 in the town of Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. This private higher education institution is owned and managed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Some of the colleges in the University include the College of Health and Medical Sciences, School of Education and Humanities, School of Computing and Engineering Sciences, School of Law and Security Studies, School of Nursing and a lot of others. Babcock University offers numerously accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
