I Will Resist Any Attempt By EFCC To Investigate My Administration – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike says any attempt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate his officials and administration would be rejected by him.

Wike said this while on the Channels Television’s Road Map 2019 today.

He accused the anti-graft agency of engaging in media trial in the prosecution of corruption cases.

He further called for collaborative efforts in curbing what he described as impunity in the anti-corruption war.

Wike added: “EFCC are not working, they cannot do it on their own. That is the problem we are having. You cannot just come and say this man is corrupt.

“Then the whole world will come and say that they are doing their work. We are tired of that.

“My administration will resist attempts by the commission to investigate my government or summon its officials.”

Labour Strike: NUT Directs Teachers to Join Nationwide Action

The Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has directed all teachers in the state to join in the nationwide strike for increment of wages by organised labour.

The chairman of the union, Ibrahim Umar, after a meeting with the State Wing Executive Council meeting at the NUT Teachers House, told newsmen called for an approval for the increase in the retirement age of teachers to 65 years.

Umar said, “We received a directive from the national body that by 12 midnight of Monday, if nothing happens in the affirmative, we should join in the national strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress.”

The state chairman also admonished the Niger State Government to regularise the release and implementation of members’ promotion at both primary and post primary school levels between 2015 and 2017

The state chairman, while disclosing that the number of teachers in the state has reduced from 30,000 to less than 27,000 said, “We want Governor Abubakar Belloto send an executive bill to the state House of Assembly for the express approval to increase the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 years and 35 to 40 years of service”.

SDP Speaks On Denying Omisore Senatorial Ticket

The alleged reports by some online publications that the Social Democratic Party denied Senator Iyiola Omisore the ticket to contest for the Osun East Senatorial District at the Senate in 2019 has been described by the party as “untrue”.The Secretary of the party in Osun State, Taiwo Akeju, stated this during an interview in Osogbo on Monday. Some online media houses had reported that Omisore who was the governorship candidate of the party in the Osun State, was denied the senatorial ticket by the party.According to Punch, Akeju, revealed that the Governorship candidate, did not present himself for senatorial election after he came third in the election.

Akeju said, “There is no truth in that story that SDP denied Omisore senatorial ticket.

“That is not true. Omisore has not presented himself for senatorial election. He didn’t inform us. If he did, we could have considered him, but he did not.

“Senator Omisore is one of the prominent leaders of the SDP and we have no quarrel with him.“But the truth is that he did not present himself for senatorial election. If anybody says that, it is a lie.

“He has not presented himself for any election after the governorship election. You know that he was our governorship candidate in the Osun governorship election and he did well.

“He is one of the symbols of the party. We would have considered him if he presented himself, but he did not.

“I think he wants to give other people the opportunity to be elected, he doesn’t have interest in the senatorial election. Maybe he doesn’t want to appear selfish, but he was not denied the ticket. The submission of list has also closed.”

Buhari Quietly Appoints Son-In-Law As Head Of Border Agency

newsproof.blogspot.com

President Muhammadu Buhari has quietly appointed his son-in-law as the head of Nigeria’s Border Communities Development Agency.Junaid Abdullahi, a retired Army captain, assumed duties at the agency on a low-key on October 18.

He was married to Zulaihat, Mr Buhari’s first daughter who passed away in 2012 from childbirth complications. She was 40.

Mr Abdullahi took over from Jummai Idakwo, the former director of the agency.

Such appointments are usually announced by either the Presidency or the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

It was not immediately clear why both institutions kept a sealed lip over the appointment.

A government source who learnt about the appointment last month said it might have been hushed to save Mr Buhari the trouble of again being accused of nepotism.

The president has faced regular allegations of being sectional, with critics saying his appointments have been lopsided since he assumed office in 2015.

His critics often raise concerns about how most key federal appointments, especially top national security positions, have been ceded to northerners.

Last week, the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Oby Ezekwesili, said Mr Buhari was Nigeria’s “most nepotistic” leader ever.

Mr Buhari has repeatedly denied the allegations, and often urged Nigerians to scrutinise his appointments, after which they are likely to reach a different conclusion.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has also said the administration’s appointments are not lopsided, and suggested that more seats have gone to the south than the north under Mr Buhari.

It was not immediately clear whether Mr Abdullahi has remarried since the passing of Zulaihat, who was born with sickle cell anemia.

Dangote New Presidential Candidate! As APC Hands The Key Of The Kingdom To Him!

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, and his conglomerate,  Dangote Group, have been reported to be responsible for over 10 percent of Nigeria’s gross domestic product, GDP. He has done better than  what APC has even done for Nigeria and should be named president.  According to the World Bank, Nigeria’s GDP stood at $404.653 billion by the end of 2016, maintaining its stance as Africa’s biggest economy, over South Africa and Angola. “Dangote Group claims its investments contribute upwards of 10 per cent of Nigeria’s GDP, a figure supported by outside economists,” the TIME report read in part.

This suggests that Dangote Group has investments worth more than $40 billion in Nigeria, ranging from cement to food products, and now, to oil and gas. Dangote Group is currently building the world’s largest greenfield refinery, estimated to be worth upwards of $10.5 billion.

The billionaire also runs arguably the biggest cement company in Africa, with an operating revenue of N240 billion as at Q2, 2018 and a market cap of N3.62 trillion (over $10 billion). Dangote Cement is also the biggest company, by market cap, on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, ahead of Nestle and Nigerian Breweries combined.

Aliko Dangote GCON (born 10 April 1957) is a Nigerian business magnate, investor, and owner of the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities in Nigeria and other African countries. As of March 2018, he had an estimated net worth of US$14.1 billion. Dangote is ranked by Forbesmagazine as the 100th-richest person in the world and the richest in Africa, and peaked on the list as the 23rd-richest person in the world in 2014. He surpassed Saudi-Ethiopian billionaire Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi in 2013 by over $2.6 billion to become the world’s richest person of African descent.

The Dangote Group was established as a small trading firm in 1977, the same year Dangote relocated to Lagos to expand the company. Today, it is a multi-trillion-naira conglomerate with many of its operations in Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo.

Dangote has expanded to cover food processing, cement manufacturing, and freight. The Dangote Group also dominates the sugar market in Nigeria and is a major supplier to the country’s soft drink companies, breweries, and confectioners. The Dangote Group has moved from being a trading company to be the largest industrial group in Nigeria including Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dangote Cement, and Dangote Flour.

In July 2012, Dangote approached the Nigerian Ports Authorities to lease an abandoned piece of land at the Apapa Port, which was approved. He later built facilities for his flour company there. In the 1990s, he approached the Central Bank of Nigeria with the idea that it would be cheaper for the bank to allow his transport company to manage their fleet of staff buses, a proposal that was also approved.

In Nigeria today, Dangote Group with its dominance in the sugar market and refinery business is the main supplier (70 percent of the market) to the country’s soft drinks companies, breweries and confectioners. It is the largest refinery in Africa and the third largest in the world, producing 800,000 tonnes of sugar annually. Dangote Group owns salt factories and flour mills and is a major importer of rice, fish, pasta, cement, and fertiliser.

The company exports cotton, cashew nuts, cocoa, sesame seeds, and ginger to several countries. It also has major investments in real estate, banking, transport, textiles, oil, and gas. The company employs more than 11,000 people and is the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa.

He said: “If I am elected as the President in 2019, I give an undertaking that I would only do one term. Having said that let me remind Nigerians that Buhari also gave such an undertaking in 2011, but he is not living up to it today. My own case will be different. I am prepared to sign an undertaking to do only one term.”

Legit.ng had reported that Atiku is taking the race for PDP's ticket in 2019 presidential elections seriously.

The spokesman of Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation Segun Showunmi declared that it would be

disastrous if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to field his principal

as its candidate in the 2019 presidential election.

Showunmi said this in a statement posted by the chairman of the campaign organisation and former Ogun state governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Group Of Clergymen Protest Over The Continued Killing In Plateau State, Du Pond Discoveries

Group Of Clergymen Protest Over The Continued Killing In Plateau State, Du Pond Discoveries

A group of clergymen on Tuesday, October 9, protested the continued killing in Plateau state

- The protesters called for the prosecution of the owner of the Du pond

- They also called for the prosecution of the former state governor of the state

Some protesters on Tuesday, October 9, stormed the streets of Jos, Plateau state to protest the killings in the state.

The protesters who shutdown commercial activities in the popular Jos city called for the prosecution of those behind these killings.

The protesters, under the aegis of The Faithful, a group of clergymen, also want owner of the deadly mining pond in Dura Du, where the car belonging to the missing General Idris Alkali (rtd) was found arrested and prosecuted.

While the protesters were intercepted by a team of Mobile Police men on their way to the palace of Gbong Gwom of Jos for security reasons, the convener of the group, Rotdunna Sekat, called for the prosecution of the former state governor of the state, Jonah Jang, as one of the brains behind the bloodletting in the town.

Sekat said: “We do not want to be a party to the shedding of innocent blood that is today crying ceaselessly to God from Plateau so we took time to search ourselves and search on behalf of the good people of the state for we know that we the people of Plateau state are not collectively evil.

“We were guided to Proverbs 29:2 that says “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” The people we identified in this authority are the Gbom Gwom Jos, Dr Jacob Gyan Buba and a former state governor, Senator Jonah Jang. They are the leadership whose hands drip with the blood of the innocent in our vision.

“These are the leaders that must be called to account for the carnage that have become daily occurrence in our land. For even the Bible in Isaiah 1:23 acknowledges their roles when it noted that “Your rulers are rebels and companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe And chases after rewards They do not defend the orphan, Nor does the widow's plea come before them.”

“We see the hands of these two in the pond that was discovered in Dura-Du, Jos and they cannot absolved themselves as being complicit in inciting the community of Berom to snuff the life out of other Plateau people and Nigerians.

“The Faithful therefore calls on the governor of Plateau state, His Excellency Simon Bako Lalong to immediately depose Dr Jacob Gyan Buba as the Gbom Gwom Jos, for his atrocities have reached to the high heavens where the killings of innocent people in the state is concerned. He has rather teamed up with Senator Jang to tolerate the killing of others by the Berom.

“Dr Buba’s unholy alliance with Senator Jang is one that the state groans under. It is costing life and we hope that his removal will bring an end to the endless bloodletting. We also hope that he will use the period after his removal for introspection to so that he can properly seek forgiveness from our all forgiving Lord.

"Even as he seeks forgiveness from God, the Nigerian state should not neglect to identify the role he played in the killings in around that pond and take the measure that may be necessary. As for Senator Jang, there have been enough entreaties for him to rescind his threat to make the state ungovernable since his party lost election.

"Unfortunately, all entreaties have fallen on deaf ears. HE has only intensified efforts at making militiamen out of his Berom brothers and the spirit of those fallen to the war he declared cry for justice daily. We have resolved to leave him to God to get his recompense. We, however, hope that Nigerian laws catch up with him here on earth pending when he answers to God," Sekat said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that three more vehicles were discovered in Du pond after the car belonging to a missing Nigerian Army general, Idris Alkali (rtd), was found.

The search operation, jointly carried out by Operation Safe Haven and 3 Division Nigeria Army, Rukuba, made the second discovery on Tuesday, October 2.

It would be recalled that Alkali, the immediate past chief of administration, Army Headquarters, Abuja, was declared missing on September 3. He was said to have gone missing on his way to Bauchi after leaving Abuja in the morning.
