A former vice president of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar has vowed to stay for only one term in office if he wins his party’s ticket and is elected president in the forthcoming 2019 election.

He said: “If I am elected as the President in 2019, I give an undertaking that I would only do one term. Having said that let me remind Nigerians that Buhari also gave such an undertaking in 2011, but he is not living up to it today. My own case will be different. I am prepared to sign an undertaking to do only one term.”

Legit.ng had reported that Atiku is taking the race for PDP's ticket in 2019 presidential elections seriously.

The spokesman of Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation Segun Showunmi declared that it would be

disastrous if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to field his principal

as its candidate in the 2019 presidential election.

Showunmi said this in a statement posted by the chairman of the campaign organisation and former Ogun state governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Group Of Clergymen Protest Over The Continued Killing In Plateau State, Du Pond Discoveries

Group Of Clergymen Protest Over The Continued Killing In Plateau State, Du Pond Discoveries

A group of clergymen on Tuesday, October 9, protested the continued killing in Plateau state

- The protesters called for the prosecution of the owner of the Du pond

- They also called for the prosecution of the former state governor of the state

Some protesters on Tuesday, October 9, stormed the streets of Jos, Plateau state to protest the killings in the state.

The protesters who shutdown commercial activities in the popular Jos city called for the prosecution of those behind these killings.

The protesters, under the aegis of The Faithful, a group of clergymen, also want owner of the deadly mining pond in Dura Du, where the car belonging to the missing General Idris Alkali (rtd) was found arrested and prosecuted.

While the protesters were intercepted by a team of Mobile Police men on their way to the palace of Gbong Gwom of Jos for security reasons, the convener of the group, Rotdunna Sekat, called for the prosecution of the former state governor of the state, Jonah Jang, as one of the brains behind the bloodletting in the town.

Sekat said: “We do not want to be a party to the shedding of innocent blood that is today crying ceaselessly to God from Plateau so we took time to search ourselves and search on behalf of the good people of the state for we know that we the people of Plateau state are not collectively evil.

“We were guided to Proverbs 29:2 that says “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” The people we identified in this authority are the Gbom Gwom Jos, Dr Jacob Gyan Buba and a former state governor, Senator Jonah Jang. They are the leadership whose hands drip with the blood of the innocent in our vision.

“These are the leaders that must be called to account for the carnage that have become daily occurrence in our land. For even the Bible in Isaiah 1:23 acknowledges their roles when it noted that “Your rulers are rebels and companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe And chases after rewards They do not defend the orphan, Nor does the widow's plea come before them.”

“We see the hands of these two in the pond that was discovered in Dura-Du, Jos and they cannot absolved themselves as being complicit in inciting the community of Berom to snuff the life out of other Plateau people and Nigerians.

“The Faithful therefore calls on the governor of Plateau state, His Excellency Simon Bako Lalong to immediately depose Dr Jacob Gyan Buba as the Gbom Gwom Jos, for his atrocities have reached to the high heavens where the killings of innocent people in the state is concerned. He has rather teamed up with Senator Jang to tolerate the killing of others by the Berom.

“Dr Buba’s unholy alliance with Senator Jang is one that the state groans under. It is costing life and we hope that his removal will bring an end to the endless bloodletting. We also hope that he will use the period after his removal for introspection to so that he can properly seek forgiveness from our all forgiving Lord.

"Even as he seeks forgiveness from God, the Nigerian state should not neglect to identify the role he played in the killings in around that pond and take the measure that may be necessary. As for Senator Jang, there have been enough entreaties for him to rescind his threat to make the state ungovernable since his party lost election.

"Unfortunately, all entreaties have fallen on deaf ears. HE has only intensified efforts at making militiamen out of his Berom brothers and the spirit of those fallen to the war he declared cry for justice daily. We have resolved to leave him to God to get his recompense. We, however, hope that Nigerian laws catch up with him here on earth pending when he answers to God," Sekat said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that three more vehicles were discovered in Du pond after the car belonging to a missing Nigerian Army general, Idris Alkali (rtd), was found.

The search operation, jointly carried out by Operation Safe Haven and 3 Division Nigeria Army, Rukuba, made the second discovery on Tuesday, October 2.

It would be recalled that Alkali, the immediate past chief of administration, Army Headquarters, Abuja, was declared missing on September 3. He was said to have gone missing on his way to Bauchi after leaving Abuja in the morning.
